• Little and often. Aim for about 10 minutes on most days. That works better than one long session. Stop while your child still feels good about it.
• Writing from memory is the key step. Watching and tracing help, but writing the letter with the model hidden builds the automatic motor memory. Every letter in the lab ends with it.
• Say it while you write it. The spoken stroke steps ("start at the sky line, pull down") give your child words to guide their hand. Encourage them to say the steps too.
• Same start, same direction, every time. Letters are grouped into families that share a starting stroke (straight down, magic c, down-and-over, slides). Learning a family together helps them stick.
• Always finish on paper. Practice on a screen only partly transfers to pencil and paper, so each session ends with a paper challenge. The worksheet maker below prints matching sky/grass/ground lines.
• Use a stylus if you can. A pencil-shaped stylus on a tablet is closer to real writing than a finger. A finger is fine for warm-ups.
• Get an occupational therapist (OT) involved. OT has the strongest evidence for dysgraphia. Show them this app; they may want different letters or a narrower tracing path.
• Don't let handwriting hold back your child's ideas. Typing and speech-to-text for longer pieces are normal supports. Ask school about extra time, less copying from the board, and typed work.
